The ABB FIA Formula E is a single-seater all-electric championship which is currently in its eighth season. Formula E is the world’s fastest-growing international motor racing series and sees some of the biggest car and racing brands going head-to-head on city streets around the world. The championship centres around three core values of Energy, Environment and Entertainment and is a fusion of engineering, technology, sustainable energy, sport, science, design, music, and entertainment – all combining to drive the future. The Formula E World Championship actively promotes electric mobility and renewable energy solutions to contribute to reducing air pollution and the fight against climate change around the world.

Cape Town is set to become the first sub-Saharan African city to host a round of the all- electric FIA World Championship next year during the Season 9 schedule with a full calendar and dates to be released later this year.

The Cape Town ePrix promises fast, exciting open-wheel street racing on a stunning new track in the Mother City with sustainability at its centre. With Table Mountain as the backdrop and Robben Island in the foreground, the Cape Town leg of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, all-electric open-wheel, street circuit race, is set to be among the most iconic races on the 2023 championship calendar.

The 2.8km, 12 turn track is predicted to be one of the fastest in the series; the world’s leading all-electric race cars will wind their way through the Green Point and Waterfront district, showcasing some of Cape Town’s most famous locations. Cape Town Big Walk
